Generally speaking, I think AI has a long way to go before achieveing self-awareness ... we all have seen various SCI-movies where computers attain consciousness, and then proceed to destroy the world. I honestly feel this possible outcome still has a ways to go.
Most AI's that I've seen "regurjitate" vast amounts of information; but I'm still not convinced that it actually "understands" what it's saying ... as evident from hallucinations that often happen.
That being said, I saw the following on CNN about China setting robot attack dogs...
This looked REALLY similar to an episode of Black Mirror called METALHEAD...
